Still here, still running

I ran 5K on the same road route I did my first evening run last week. Yesterday morning. A little later than my typical morning run, due to a conference I’m attending this week and its later start. A 7am run is different than a 630am run. That half hour makes a world of difference in activity level and brightness. I felt part of a community, rather than someone trying to do something in secret.

Great run though. Managed to get to the 2.5K part before walking for 500m or so to rest the knee from a steep incline. This week I’m participating in a Creative Writing Institute (Seawords) and my mind has been full of inspiration, ideas, and motivation. Running seemed to complement this state of mind. I was focusing on many story/poetry ideas and taking in the scenery. I was more aware of me, where I was, what I was feeling (the good feelings; I ignored the pain + exhaustion!), and where I was going. I was worried I wouldn’t have time to run this week b/c of the conference but I’m actually realizing how vital it is. Running + creativity works.

My only disappointment? The cows were not out in the field. Sadness.

A run can make so much space in your head. So amazing.

I am so glad the run was productive, enjoyable even, and helped set your personal bar a bit higher.

Sounds like a great run! Too bad about the cows;) Obviously, they were being lazy and sleeping in. See, if you’d been running in Rustico, you could have run by my more active cows – they were running with me again today….

Many of my most amazing thoughts occur while I am running – only thing is that I don’t take the time out of the run to write them down, so sometimes those incredible thoughts get lost for a little while:) So glad that you are enjoying the running! It is vital!
